Ruth Pearson (Artist Report)

Ruth Pearson is a fine Artist/ Oil paint specialist from South East London. The majority of her work is based on expressive paintings on locations, and portraits. Ruth has a very unique visual language, she chooses not to make draft copies or rough outlines before beginning her paintings, this makes her style of working very bold, brave and experimental. When painting she makes expressive marks using oil paint or egg tempera on to stretched canvas in various sizes, most of which she creates herself.

Ruth states that the purpose of her art is to encourage and evoke imagination. Her practise has developed over time, Ruth has gain more appreciation for the beauty of culture in all forms. She explores themes of beautiful landscapes and portraits. She has very natural talent for bringing out the character of the subject.

I asked her opinion on whether she thinks an artist can make a living wage and if so how hard is it today’s society, her response was that a “living wage can made form art/ painting but only with hard work, determination and consistency”

She gains her inspiration and research from visiting exhibitions preferably the Dulwich Picture Gallery. Ruth’s prefers not collaborate with others on her paintings, however, she does enjoy the company when painting on location.

Her work has been compared to likes of Van Gogh or Tom Thompson.

Ruth Pearson is a very talented artist with a unique visual language and method of working. She is very ambitious and has plans of creating an exhibition to sell and promote her work.

Her plans for the future are to finish of unfinished work. Go on social media sites to promote her artistic ability and use as platform for selling her paintings.
